Happy New Year 2014

2013 was filled with personal  and global highs and lows. The graphic above shows the selection of two people for Graph of the Year for the Washington Post. I was directed to this from a tweet by @mathematicsprof.

I thought these graphs symbolized the positive aspects of collective human activities: creativity, ingenuity, passion and persistence despite challenges of politics, personality and other power plays.

I work in teams of varying size and composition. I hope 2014, in addition to personal goals, becomes an opportunity to rejoice in the wonder and power of team work…however small our contribution  to the world may be…

Happy New Year 2014 to all.
