Further to the “Pilgrim’s Progress“, there are a number of possible extensions. One I mused with was whether the nun could become arbitrarily wealthy. One easy to find money generator is shown in the graphic below.  As the nun completes the cycles of the square in the southeast corner another 2 is added to the kitty.


So, after n cycles (nwes) the nun would accumulate 56 + 2n.  I am sure there are many alternative “money-making” approaches.


By the way,  commenters confirmed that a path which does not use edges more than once (but repeats nodes, which I think is necessary). An example is shown below:
